Southlake Youth Action Commission
The Southlake Youth Action Commission (SYAC) was created in 1994 by City Council to generate broad-base public awareness of and support for youth. SYAC is advisory in nature, evaluating current issues affecting youth in Southlake and bringing them to the attendtion of the City Council and other Boards & Commissions as necessary. The Commission will also participate in community service proejcts to encourage youth to make a difference in the community through volunteerism.

MISSION: To inspire students to recognize their own potential and instill confidence to take an idea through the entire process of implementation.
MEETINGS: Meetings are generally held on the first & third Wednesday of each month during the school year.
MEMBERSHIP: Membership is open to all students in the seventh through twelfth grades who reside in the City of Southlake and/or attend schools in the Carroll Independent School District. Students must complete and submit an application and may have no more than two absences per year. Membership must be renewed each year. Join now and start earning community service hours for C.I.S.D.!

VOLUNTEER HOURS: S.Y.A.C. is an approved community organization through the C.I.S.D. Success Scholars Community Service Program (page 18 of the C.I.S.D. Community Service Handbook).
YOUTH OF THE YEAR AWARD: The Youth of the Year Award will be awarded at the Annual Southlake Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet on Friday, February 29, 2008. Please help S.Y.A.C. in getting the word out to all teachers and counselors so they can nominate outstanding youth for this prestigous award! Nomination forms are due no later than Friday, Feburary 1, 2008.
