Councilmember Carolyn Morris

Dr. Carolyn Morris was elected to the Southlake City Council in May 2002. She has been a resident of Southlake since 1994 and of Northeast Tarrant County since 1966. As a Southlake City Council member, Dr. Morris has worked on a number of special committees. She served on the very important Southlake 2025 Committee that worked to update the city’s comprehensive plan and develop a blueprint for the future development of the city. She is a Council representative for the Urban Design study now underway during the fall of 2006. Dr. Morris currently serves as a Council representative on the Southlake Public Art Advisory Commission and is a member of the Executive Board of the newly formed APEX Arts League. In 2004, Dr. Morris became a Coordinator for the PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease) Foundation North Texas Chapter. She has worked in the volunteer position to raise awareness and research funds to find a cure for PKD. The annual Walk for PKD is held the 3rd Saturday of September each year in Southlake as a part of a national walk. Dr. Morris has been very interested and involved in the development and enhancement of the city's parks while on the Southlake City Council. She is President of the Southlake Parks and Development Corporation. She has taken an active supportive role in the development of the Bob Jones Nature Center and the redesign and development plan for Bicentennial Park. Dr. Morris has been a strong supporter of the Southlake Department of Public Safety Citizens Academy's Safety Town proposed for Bicentennial Park. She believes it is important to have community assets to enhance the quality of life for all Southlake citizens. Working with children and serving her community has been a life long commitment and source of enjoyment for Dr. Morris. She and her husband, Tom, have four married daughters and five grandchildren living in the area. |
