John Terrell has served on the City Council since 2004 and is a former Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission where he served for 6 years. He is currently a Carroll Education Foundation Board Member, President of Southlake Sister Cities organization and has previously served as Chair of the Southlake Joint Use Committee with the Carroll Independent School District.  He was also a member of the Southlake Zoning Board of Adjustment and has worked for many years in various community endeavors including being a current executive board member of the APEX arts league.  He is a member of Southlake Executive Forum, Northeast Leadership Forum, Metroport, International Council of Shopping Centers, Urban Land Institute, Southlake Historical Society, Bob Jones Nature Center, and the Southlake Chamber of Commerce and is a graduate of Leadership Southlake and the Southlake Citizens Academy.  He served on the Southlake 2025 Committee that worked to update the city's comphrehensive plan and develop a blueprint for the future development of the city.  He is a Council representative for the Urban Design study and the Oil and Gas Task Force.

 

Mr. Terrell is Vice President of Commercial Development at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport where he is responsible for the strategic direction and implementation of commercial land development on 18,000 acres. He leads the efforts for natural gas exploration/production, development of the airport's Land Use Analysis and Land Use Plan as well as directs the management of the Bear Creek Golf Course and the Grand Hyatt Hotel and the lease for the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

John and his wife Joanne have an eleven year old son and a six year old daughter and have lived in Southlake for the past 11 years.
