Quail Creek Estates Sanitary Sewer Improvements and Street Overlay

Project Information:

This Capital Improvement Program (CIP) project consisted of the design and construction of approximately 3,500 linear feet of 8 inch sanitary sewer pipe to serve 41 residential properties. The location of the sewer is approximately 5 feet from the edge of the street pavement within the street right-of-way, and was installed primarily using an open cut method of construction. Directional drilling or boring of the sewer lines was required in select areas that included driveways constructed of exposed aggregate material and under a culvert to avoid disturbing the flow of storm water in the drainage way.

The location of the sanitary sewer is in an area where there are few trees along the alignment in order to minimize any impact to existing trees due to construction. Also included as a part of this project was a street overlay once the construction of the sewer was completed and the area disturbed was restored.

The construction of the neighborhood sewer was divided into five construction phases or construction areas. The contractor was required to install the sanitary sewer, perform the required testing and inspections, and restore the area before proceeding with another construction phase if using a single construction crew. However, the contractor was allowed to work on multiple phases concurrently during this project if multiple construction crews were used.

Construction of the sanitary sewer began on Monday, November 2, 2009 at the end of Quail Run Road to the west, and paving activities began May 2010. The Project was completed in September 2010.
