Shana K. Yelverton

Since being named city manager in 2005, Shana Yelverton has worked with elected officials and her colleagues at city hall to add transparency, accountability and long term planning to manage one of the area's fastest growing and most successful communities.

As the city's chief administrative officer she oversees an annual budget of more than $63 million and provides direction for city departments that include more than 300 employees.

Working with the city council, the city manager helped Southlake articulate its vision and create a comprehensive management plan and a strategy map to guide the city's future.

Under her leadership city departments have been reorganized under corporate business models to ensure taxpayers receive the highest level of service and to hold administrators accountable for results.  Day-to-day activities are linked to a comprehensive long-term strategy to guide public policy and management decisions for the fast-growing community. Several new members were recruited for the management team to add decades of in-depth experience to the city's executive leadership.

The comprehensive reorganization program also included an outline of organizational values and an easy-to-understand code of business conduct for all city employees. Internal controls have been strengthened with the addition of risk assessments and internal audits as well as a comprehensive technology upgrade to make sure that every tax dollar is accounted for and used wisely.

The city manager began her career in Southlake in 1993. She holds a Master's of Public Administration degree from Angelo State University. She is a member of the International City/County Management Association, the Texas City Management Association and has held numerous leadership positions, including President of the Urban Management Assistants of North Texas.  She is a current member and former Chair of the Metroport Cities Partnership, is currently Vice-President of the North Texas City Manager's Association, and is a member of the Northeast Leadership Forum and the Southlake Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Before coming to Southlake she held positions with the North Central Texas and Concho Valley Councils of Government.

In 2006, Ms. Yelverton was awarded the Linda Keithley Award for Women In Public Management by the North Central Texas Council of Governments.  In 2007, she was honored by the Urban Management Assistants of North Texas with the Joy Sansom Mentor Award.

A native of west Texas, Ms. Yelverton is married to Trey Yelverton. They have two school age children.
