Proclamation - United States Army Day

The United States Army was established by the First Continental Congress on the 14th of June, 1775; and,

Whereas, the United States Army exists as the strength of our nation to defend the freedom of our citizens and our nation's security interests; and,

Whereas, many present and former citizens of Southlake have served our nation and sacrificed in defense of our freedoms, as Soldiers in the United States Army; and,

Whereas, it is proper to recognize the United States Army annually on its birthday, and to thank those who have served and those who are presently serving; now,

Therefore, I, John Terrell, Mayor of the City of Southlake, on behalf of the City Council, do hereby proclaim June 14, 2009, as

United States Army Day

and exhort all citizens of Southlake to join in the salute in expressing their gratitude to

those who have served and those who are now serving to protect

our nation and freedoms.
