Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Classes

Everyone should know how and when to use CPR. When done correctly, CPR can save a life. CPR restores breathing and circulation until advanced life support can be administered by health care providers.

CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, a combination of rescue breathing (mouth-to-mouth resuscitation) and chest compressions.  If an individual is not breathing or circulating blood adequately, CPR can restore circulation of oxygen-rich blood to the brain.  Without oxygen, permanent brain damage or death can occur in less than eight minutes.

CPR may be necessary during many types of emergencies: accidents, near drowning, suffocation, poisoning, smoke inhalation, electrocution, and suspected sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).  Learning how to correctly administer CPR will give a victim the best chance of recovery.

The City of Southlake Fire Services teaches classes on CPR once or twice a month. For more information or to sign up for a class please call 817-748-8146.
