This page contains employment information for Southlake Firefighter/Paramedics. Southlake Fire Services employees perform a variety of duties in public fire and EMS protection, in addition to also performing specialized work for their assigned area of responsibility.

Qualifications


 

In order to be considered an applicant must be at least 21 years old, have a High School Diploma or GED, must be licensed by TCFP (Texas Commission on Fire Protection), and hold a Paramedic certification from TDH (Texas Department of Health). Applicants must also possess an appropriate, valid Texas driver's license. There are a number of other factors that would disqualify an individual such as a criminal record, narcotics use, or DWI convictions. Advancement Opportunities


 

Firefighters have advancement opportunities to Driver/Engineer, Shift Lieutenant, and Administrative Lieutenant, and can work in areas such as Inspections, Investigations, Public Education, and Technical Rescue.

 

Salary and Benefits


 

Starting salary is $3,731.17 (per month) plus benefits and annual increases are typical up to $4,868.33 (per month) after 10 years. There are additional incentives for higher levels of fire commission certifications. Southlake is a member of the Texas Municipal Retirement System and the city matches the Firefighters' 7% contribution 2 to 1.
