Job Description)

Job Summary:  The purpose of this position is to develop and manage recreation and athletic programs and special events sponsored by or in conjunction with the City of Southlake.  This is accomplished by coordinating, planning, implementing, promoting and supervising all aspects of activities, special events, athletic leagues, tournaments and classes, interacting with citizens, officials, employees and the general public, and supervising recreation staff.  Other duties include providing highly responsible and complex administrative support management.

Essential functions include (but not limited to): 

  1. Coordinating recreation and athletic programs, activities, and special events by organizing, planning, implementing, promoting and supervising activities, coordinating various programs with other city and departmental personnel, continuously monitoring and evaluating the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of recreational and educational programs, working with subordinate employees on the continuous improvement of programs and services, and ensuring the overall safety, health, and welfare of all individuals using the parks and recreation facilities and services of the City.
  2. Supervise assigned personnel by leading, directing, training and evaluating employees, delegating work for completion, and verifying work for accuracy.
  3. Supervise referees, scorekeepers, instructors, and volunteer coaches by recruiting, training, scheduling and overseeing work.
  4. Perform administrative and technical tasks by developing long range goals for programs, managing expenditures for programs and events, and providing support to department.

Education:  A Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience is required

 

Certificates & Other Requirements:

Experience: Up to two (2) years of relevant experience

Salary: $19.68 per hour + benefits
