AARP Tax-Aid

AARP Tax-Aide is the nation's largest, free, volunteer-run tax counseling and preparation service.There is no need to be an AARP member and there are no age restrictions. AARP Tax-Aide provides comprehensive tax-help and preparation assistance including electronic filing (e-file), a fast and convenient method for filing federal taxes.

This service willonce again be availableatthe Library beginning in February 2010.


TollTags

Customers now have the opportunity to pick up TollTags at the Southlake Public Library. To use this service:

  • Set up an account at https://csc.ntta.org/olcsc/POS_cityofsouthlake from any Internet-enabled computer.
  • You will need a valid driver license, credit card, and the year, make, model and license number of the vehicles you are registering.
  • Visit the front desk of the Southlake Public Library with your driver license to pick up your TollTag(s).

This service is for setting up new TollTag accounts only. Drivers with existing accounts will need to contact the North Texas Tollway Authority directly by calling 972-818-6882 or visiting the North Texas Tollway Authority's website at http://www.NTTA.org.

Personal Finance Series

The Southlake Public Library is proud to offer a year-long series of personal financeseries presented by a local financial advisor. All but one of them will be held at 6:00 p.m. on the first Thursday of each month in the Library. The next seminar is scheduled for October 1st.


Each of the programs stands on its own so there is no need to attend the entire series to gain any value from the individual classes. No products will be sold and the classesare informational only.


Non-Profit Programs

Victory Boxes are available now in the Southlake Public Library. A Victory Box is a box of goods needed by the people of Iraq and Afghanistan. They will be distributed by select soldiers who work directly with the people. Suggested items include small toys, clothes, shoes, and school products. Please do not send meat products, religious items, or anything involving sexually explicit literature. Southlake Sister Cities is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering global understanding, friendship and communication through exchanges with Sister Cities throughout the world. Southlake's Sister Cities are in Tome, Miyagi, Japan and El Fuerte, Sinoloa, Mexico.

Visit the Library in September to view the special display for Tome, Miyagi, Japan, which was provided by Sister Cities International.
