Existing Building For Sale/Leasing Signs
Sign Ordinance 704-C, adopted December 5, 2006, establishes new regulations for leasing signs and "for sale" signs for existing non-residential buildings. These signs are called "Existing Building For Sale/Leasing Signs".
All commercial buildings with any existing "for lease" or "for sale" ground signs will be permitted to retain that sign until December 31, 2007. After that date, all existing "for lease" or "for sale" ground signs shall be removed or replaced with the City authorized "Existing Building For Sale/Leasing Signs" as described below.
Basic Regulations for Existing Building For Sale/Leasing Signs
Sign Post:
- Material: Shall be of 3 - 4 inch extruded metal with decorative finials.
- Height: Shall not exceed 5 feet in height, excluding finials. Finials shall not exceed 9 inches in height.
- Color: Shall be black.
Sign Face:
- Material: Shall be made up of 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch plastic or aluminum coated MDO or plastic cored aluminum.
- Area: Each sign face shall not exceed 12 square feet. Sign may be two-sided.
- Color: Background color shall be white, gray, or beige/cream.
- Content: Content (font and logo) shall be black.
Sign Frame:
- Material: Same material as the sign post.
- Color: Same color as the sign post.
- Height: Any decorative element over the sign frame shall be limited to a maximum of 9 inches.
Number of Signs:
- Ground Signs: One per street frontage.
- Window Signs: One per lease space. The window sign shall not exceed 10% of the window area.
Additional Requirements:
- Signs may be displayed at or behind the property line. Signs may not be displayed in public right-of-way.
- Signs may only be displayed when space is available for lease or sale on the same site. Because of this, the use of post sleeves is encouraged to facilitate easier sign removal and replacement.
