Water Well Guidelines
The following outlines the requirements for new water wells in the city.
General Requirements
- Wells must meet State water well requirements.
- A well permit and electrical permit are required.
- A plot plan must be included with the permit showing all structures, septic tanks, absorption lines, and the location of the well.
- Electrical inspections must be done by City of Southlake inspectors upon completion of work.
- A copy of the State of Texas well log must be sent to the city within 60 days of completion of the well.
- Well Contractors must be State licensed and registered with the city.
- Electrical Contractors must be licensed and registered with the city.
Setbacks for Properties with Septic Systems
The minimum distance required from the septic system is as follows:
- All property lines - 75 feet
- Septic tanks - 50 feet
- Soil absorption lines - 150 feet
- Water lines - 10 feet
- Foundation - 5 feet
- Swimming Pools - 15 feet
Setbacks for Properties on Public Sewer
Setbacks are as required by the Zoning Ordinance, but not less than 10 feet from all property lines. Additional setbacks are as follows:
- Water lines - 10 feet
- Foundation - 5 feet
- Swimming Pools - 15 feet
- Sewer pipe with tight joints - 20 feet
