About Planning and Development Services
With the addition of Building Inspections in November 2005 and Code Enforcement in January 2007, the Planning Department officially became the Planning and Development Services Department on January 1, 2007 to better reflect the scope of services the department provides. With these mergers, the services offered by Planning and Development Services now range from comprehensive planning, current planning, and mapping to building plan reviews, building permits, inspections, and code enforcement.

Current and Comprehensive Planning
Current and Comprehensive Planning is located on the 3rd floor of Town Hall in the Planning Offices and encompasses zoning, platting, tree preservation, sign regulations, and maintenance of the comprehensive plan. Residents may contact the Current and Comprehensive Planning Division to find out information such as what the property adjacent to a home site is zoned and how the Land Use Plan classifies an area of the city. Likewise, property developers who would like a greater understanding of adopted development regulations should contact this division for the most current ordinance requirements and procedures.

Building Inspections
The Building Inspections Division is located on the 2nd floor of Town Hall in the Building Inspections Offices. Services provided include construction plan reviews for residential, commercial and miscellaneous construction, building permits, building construction inspections, and professional standards functions. Questions about building permits, such as fence permits,commercial permits, residential permits, and certificates of occupancy, should be directed to this division.

Code Enforcement
Code Enforcement is located on the 4th floor of Town Hall. Code enforcement handles issues such as tall grass, weeds, and junk vehicles. Fire Services and animal control services are offered by the Department of Public Safety.

GIS (Mapping) Services
The Geographic Information System (GIS) division is located on the 3rd floor of Town Hall in the Planning Offices. The GIS division creates, maintains, collects, and analyzes spatial data and prepares digital and hard-copy maps.
