CPTED
CPTED is the proper design of space to lead to a reduction in criminal activity. Southlake Police assist businesses and homeowners in CPTED.
CPTED is based on these three overlapping strategies:
- Natural access control
- Natural surveillance
- Territorial reinforcement.
How does CPTED impact me?
It impacts each of us by increasing safety, promoting secure environments, and improving neighborhoods and public amenities.
To ensure new developers meet safety needs of our community, CPTED Specialists (police officers trained in CPTED) work with planners and city officials to impart crime prevention strategies into the design process.
How is it accomplished?
- Landscape plans
- Street lighting plans
- Access controls
- Street design
- Traffic controls
- Sidewalks
- Park improvements
- Community clean-up efforts
