Robert Price, P.E., Director of Public Works

In 2006, the City of Southlake named Robert H. (Bob) Price as the director of Public Works.  Since then, he has provided strategic planning and leadership for the department's five divisions (Administration and Engineering, Streets and Drainage, Water, Wastewater, and Storm Water Utility).  He manages the administrative public works services necessary to the viability of the city and is instrumental in planning for key future infrastructure projects for Southlake
 
The Public Works Department, under Mr. Price's direction, manages the department's five-year $36.5m Capital Improvements Program and reviews engineering designs for all roadways, waterlines, sanitary sewer lines and storm water lines for residential and commercial developments. The Public Works Department administers numerous contracts for city services and oversees inter-local agreements with neighboring cities.
 
Mr. Price was recognized in 1989 by the Fort Worth Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers as the Outstanding Young Engineer of the Year.  In 2002, he was named the Engineer of the Year for the Fort Worth Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers.  Prior to his employment with the City of Southlake, Price served as the assistant director of Public Works for the city of Grapevine.  He has also worked as a consultant for both public and private clients.
 
"My job is to improve the quality of life for our citizens," said Mr. Price.  "Whether it is by working on a design project for a new roadway, helping to solve a drainage problem, keeping the water running or  repairing a road, service in public works is all about helping the people of our community."
 
Mr. Price graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering and earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Arlington.  Mr. Price is a Texas Licensed Professional Engineer.
