Republic Waste Services, known locally as Duncan Disposal, is the City of Southlake's garbage and recycling provider. Below are links and information about rates, schedules, and fast facts.
Latest News: Rate Increase Effective October 1, 2009: Starting October 1, 2009, the residential solid waste and recycling collection fee will increase to $11.98 a month. That breaks down to $8.43 a month for solid waste, $2.64 a month for recycling and $0.91 cents tax. The fee increase was approved by the City Council in 2008 as part of Duncan Disposal's contract review. As Southlake's solid waste and recycling provider since 2007, Duncan has provided the City with quality service and maintains a 95% satisfaction rate. Garbage Collection FAQs
My garbage was supposed to be picked up today but was missed by the truck. What do I do? Submit an online complaint form to Duncan Disposal or call Customer Service at 817-317-2424.
I've got a sofa that I need to throw away. Will Duncan pick it up if I put it at the curb? See the section below titled "Bulk Item Pick-Ups."
I recently trimmed some trees and shrubs. Can I place those at the curb? See the section below titled "Brush / Limb Pick-Up"
My neighbor is disabled and has trouble taking his garbage can to the curb. Can Duncan help? Special services for the disabled are available. What is the largest size garbage bag I can use? 33 Gallon
What is the maximum weight any garbage bag can weigh? 50 lbs
Why does my neighbor have a large 90 Gallon "Monster" garbage can and Duncan Disposal still picks up their trash? Duncan Disposal will pick up the contents of larger cans so long as the contents are individually bagged, individual bags not exceeding 33 Gallons bags, and not exceeding 50 lbs each so the driver can reach in and pull these out one at a time.
Where should I place my garbage and recycling containers? Duncan Disposal recommends that garbage and recycling containers be placed at the curb in front of the residence at a distance no greater than 7 feet from the curb.
Bulk Item Pick-Ups: How many bulk pick-ups do I get? Bulk item pick-ups are offered to residents free of charge up to three (3) times annually. From the fourth pick-up on, there will be a charge (See Pricing).
What is accepted as a bulk pick-up? Items such as sofas, appliances, stoves, water heaters and limited amounts of unbundled brush can be collected as a bulk pick-up item. Any appliance, such as a refrigerator or air conditioner, which once contained a refrigerant must have the refrigerant removed by a certified professional prior to collection. A state approved "clean certificate" must be attached to the appliance before it will be collected. Please contact Duncan Disposal (817-317-2424) to determine if your item can be collected as a part of this program.
How do I schedule a bulk pick-up? To schedule your bulk pick-up time please use the online request form and select "Bulky Waste Collection" from the pull down menus or contact Duncan Disposal Customer Service directly at 817-317-2424.
Brush / Limb Pick-up:
What if I have more than 4 cubic yards of brush / limbs set at the curb for disposal? If you have more brush that needs to be disposed of the options are:
Bundle the brush into lengths of no more than 4 feet and no more than 50 pounds in weight. The pickup of bundled brush will not incur additional charges.
Place the unbundled brush at the curb and pay for removal. The removal fee of unbundled brush in excess of 4 cubic yards is $110 per hour with a 30 minute minimum.

Memorial Day - Monday, May 31 No changes. Normal collection schedule.
Independence Day - Sunday, July 4 No changes. Normal collection schedule.
Labor Day - Monday, September 6 Monday collections will be picked up on Tuesday, September 7. Tuesday collections will be picked up on Wednesday, September 8.
Thanksgiving - Thursday, November 25 Thursday collections will be picked up on Friday, November 26. Friday collections will be picked up on Saturday, November 27.
Christmas - Saturday, December 25 No changes. Normal collection schedule.
New Year's Day - Saturday, January 1, 2011 No changes. Normal collection schedule.
