Who

Who is eligible for Teen Court?

 Defendant Eligibility

• Teens who receive a citation for a class C misdemeanor
• Ages 12-19
• Is currently enrolled in secondary education or other program leading to a high school diploma. 
• Has not successfully completed a Teen Court program anywhere in the state of Texas in the last 2 years. 
• Must enter a plea of guilty or nolo contendere (no contest). 

Volunteers

To volunteer with Teen Court, you may come in on any evening we hold Teen Court.  Please see the schedule for upcoming dates.  You will sign in at the volunteer check-in between 5:15pm-6pm, and we will direct you to the appropriate location.  Volunteer Application

• Teen Volunteers
  • Youth in middle school or high school may volunteer as a jury member, court clerk, bailiff or teen attorney.  For a full description of duties, click here. 
  • If you would like to become a teen attorney, please see the attorney requirements.  We  hold attorney training sessions throughout the year and will notify the school districts of the dates as they are established.  Keep checking this website for updates. 
• Adult Volunteers
  • Adults may volunteer as a jury trial judge, bench trial judge, jury monitor, or court clerk.  Adults, please contact the Teen Court Coordinator for further information at 817-748-8346.
