The City Secretary's Office is responsible for conducting municipal elections as prescribed by the Election Code of the State of Texas and the City Charter.

The governing and lawmaking body of the city shall consist of the mayor and six council members who shall be elected for terms of three years. All places, including the mayor, will be elected at large. No person shall serve as mayor or as a council member for more than two successive elected terms. A term of office shall be defined as an elected period of three years

    • Municipal elections are held annually in May (second Saturday), as authorized by state law.

    The City of Southlake and Grapevine-Colleyville ISD have uncontested elections.

    On Saturday, May 11, 2013, qualified registered voters of the City of Southlake will cast their ballot for the purpose of electing school board trustees for the following districts: Carroll ISD, Keller ISD, and Northwest ISD.

    Southlake voters must go to their county precinct polling location on Election Day. The City of Southlake is situated in two counties--Denton and Tarrant. Please click on appropriate link to determine if you are registered to vote.

    In order to vote in the May 11, 2013 general election, a citizen must be registered to vote no later than April 11, 2013. Citizens are encouraged to bring their voter registration cards with them to the polling location.

    The following elections shall take place as listed below:
    • Places 3, 4 and 5 will next be elected in 2013
    • Places 1 and 6 will next be elected in 2014
    • The Mayor and Place 2 will next be elected in 2015
