Public Education and Outreach
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation, a combination of rescue breathing (mouth-to-mouth resuscitation) and chest compressions. Fire Services teaches classes once per month and the classes alternate between a weekday and weekend class. See the CPR page for additional information about location and how to register.
Child Safety Seat Installation
With the new Child Safety Seat law going into effect, there has been some confusion over the new regulations. The Southlake Fire Department has staff who are licensed to assist and demonstrate the correct way to install your child's safety seat.
Fire Extinguisher Training
Fire extinguishers are only valuable safety devices when you know how to use them. This is why the Southlake Fire Department offers training in the use of fire extinguishers.
Household Hazardous Waste Disposal
The City of Southlake partners with Fort Worth Environmental to provide residents with a way to dispose of household hazardous waste. Residents are able to drop off waste at the Fort Worth Environmental Collection Center or the Crud Cruiser will come to Southlake to pick up materials once per year. Check the City's calendar for more information on when the next Crud Cruiser event will take place. If you would like additional information on what items are accepted, please visit the Fort Worth Environmental website.
Station Tours
Our department welcomes guests into our fire stations as part of our community and educational outreach. Fire station tours are conducted for church groups, schools, social clubs, mom's groups, and other organizations. All tours are personalized for each group based on the age and skill level of the participants. We will show you the fire trucks and the equipment we use, as well as where we live and eat every day. To help us personalize your tour, please let us know the age range and the number of children in your group and which fire station you would like to visit. Please let us know if you have a particular program focus, i.e., a scout badge or fire safety at home.
