About Planning & Zoning
The Planning and Zoning Division oversees all development, signage and gas drilling related applications. In doing so, staff works with the development community, residents, and property owners to collaborate and provide recommendations to the City Council. The Planning division responds to development-related requests for information and is responsible for approving administrative level applications. Staff also performs routine analysis on the viability of future projects and works with developers to ensure the highest quality of development for the City. Comprehensive Plan & Ordinance development is also supported by the Planning division. The Planning staff works with property owners, residents, and City departments, as well as elected and appointed officials to develop and implement plans to address current and future growth and changing City dynamics. The division also takes a comprehensive and collaborative approach to regional planning activities in the Metroplex by working with various regional planning agencies such as the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and regional planning efforts such as Vision North Texas.
Comprehensive Plan
The division is also responsible for the city’s comprehensive plan. Staff work with property owners, residents, other city departments and elected and appointed officials to develop and implement plans to address current and future growth and changing city dynamics.
