- Understanding Development
The most visible impact to a community is the development that occurs within it. For Southlake residents it is evident that development is happening today. It can be troubling to think, how much development is too much? What are the rules that dictate how development occurs? Who is keeping track of all this development? How does development begin in Southlake? All of these questions are important and can be answered.
The comprehensive plan is a roadmap to guide the City’s decisions about the physical development of Southlake for the next 20 years. The Southlake 2030 Plan includes 19 adopted elements. This includes updates to previous master plans elements such as the Land Use Plan and Park Master Plan but also includes new and nontraditional elements such as the Sustainability Master Plan. Each element of the Southlake 2030 Plan was created by a City Council assigned committee. The plan elements were also prepared by using the Citizens’ Satisfaction Survey as a guide which helps the City to better understand the desire of the community.
The next phase of comprehensive planning in the City of Southlake, Southlake 2035, is underway. Visit the Southlake 2035 webpage to learn more.
The Planning & Development Services department created a public meeting brochure to assist those with questions about the meeting process and development process in Southlake, or how to get involved.
