The City of Southlake adopted its first Economic Development & Tourism Master Plan in 2011 as part of the Southlake 2030 Comprehensive Plan. With the Southlake 2035 Comprehensive Plan update, the Economic Development Master Plan and Tourism Master Plan have been separated into two separate elements. The City Council appointed the Community Enhancement Development Corporation (CEDC) to oversee the development of the Economic Development Master Plan and Tourism Master Plan.
Overall, the CEDC held three public meetings between February 2016 and June 2016 to discuss, review, and develop the recommendations for the plan. A SPIN Town Hall Forum was also held to solicit public input. In addition, both the Planning & Zoning Commission and the City Council held public hearings for the Economic Development Master Plan prior to adopting it as Ordinance No. 1161 on October 4, 2016.
