What is Southlake Connect?


Southlake Connect is an emergency notification system used to send rapid emergency notifications to residents and businesses in the City of Southlake.  

Southlake Connect allows you to “opt-in” to receive emergency notifications such as severe weather warnings, evacuation notices and public health alerts. This system may also be used to deliver important public safety and community alert information to Southlake residents and businesses, such as important law enforcement information or notices of significant road closures.

Will I still get emergency notifications if I don't sign up?


Yes and No. All publicly available listed landline phones residing within the City of Southlake are already included in the system (same phone information you’d find in the “white pages” or “yellow pages.”) All unlisted phone numbers and cellular phones are NOT automatically included in the system. You must opt in to receive notifications on your cell phone or unlisted number.

What if my phone number or email address changes?


The system is only as good as the information you provide. If your contact information changes, you can always visit your profile and update your information. You can also call the Office of Marketing and Communication at (817) 748-8037 and we will be happy to assist you. 

Will my contact information be shared with others?


No. The information that you provide will be used only for Southlake Connect notification purposes. We will not give or sell your contact or location information to any vendor or other organization.

 

I am hearing impaired and I have a TTY/TTD device. Can I use the system?


Yes. You can register the phone number associated with your TTY device via the opt in portal.

How does the system work?


Southlake Connect is powered by Everbridge®, a web-based application that uses mapping technology to provide notifications, and/or written text or email notifications to people in a precisely targeted geographic area. Trained emergency officials can essentially “draw” an area on a map, record an emergency message, and launch the alert to those in the affected area.

While the system is able to rapidly contact thousands of residents in one launch procedure, there may be limitations. It is always important to remember that technology can sometimes fail.  No single alert or tool will provide enough warning to all residents in all situations. This system is only one part of a comprehensive emergency warning program and should not be your sole means of emergency notifications.
