The City of Southlake needs your help fighting the flu! Flu season in the Dallas-Fort Worth area is approximately October through mid-May and peaks in February. The 2022 flu season has seen above average (baseline) cases of the flu in our area. The City of Southlake Office of Emergency Management is actively working with the school district, area hospitals, neighboring jurisdictions, as well as county and state agencies to remain aware of the latest flu trends and information.
According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the flu shot is the best protection which takes around two weeks to reach optimal impact on the immune system. It is still not too late to get the flu shot, which may prevent the flu or lessen the severity of flu symptoms, should one become ill with the flu.
