On Friday, September 21 the City of Southlake experienced heavy rainfall and flash flooding. As a result of the rain and floodwaters rushing over the bridge on N. White Chapel, at Kirkwood Branch Creek, was severely damaged.
For the safety of residents and motorists, the bridge was closed immediately and a detour route was established. See the detour map below.
Within a week of the damage, a third-party structural engineering firm was consulted to inspect the bridge. As of October 2, the bridge remains closed as the City waits for the consultants to provide repair options. Once options are presented, the City will determine the best course of action and will be able to provide a better timeline for the duration of the closure.
