The Emergency Management Intern will assist the Assistant to the Director/Emergency Manager with updating Southlake’s EOC Manual, assisting with EMAP accreditation procedures, participating in the planning process of the Preparedness Fair, writing grants, and other duties as assigned. The intern will work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Functions: • Assist in updating EOC manual and annexes • Assist in the accreditation processes • Assist in the Preparedness Fair • Attend emergency management meetings and trainings. • Assist in writing and managing emergency management, fire, and police grants. • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Minimum Qualifications • Minimum of two (2) years coursework from an accredited college or university with major course work in emergency management, or related field. • Experience using word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and other relevant computer applications. • Ability to research, analyze and effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
