City Secretary Carol Borges was appointed to the position by the City Council on August 1, 2017. She served as interim City Secretary and previously worked as the Deputy City Secretary for Southlake. “I am thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to serve the Mayor, City Council, and the citizens of Southlake,” said Mrs. Borges.
Mrs. Borges came to the City of Southlake in September 2016 with 20 years in public service, previously serving as the City Secretary for the City of Westworth Village for seven years. During her tenure, Mrs. Borges was responsible for municipal elections, records management, code of ordinances, budget management, and contract negotiations. She was also directly involved with the City of Westworth Village’s Planning and Zoning Commission and the City’s Economic Development Corporation in the development of residential and commercial properties. In addition to traditional municipal duties, she also acted as liaison to other cities, county and state officials.
Mrs. Borges works closely with other city secretaries across Texas. She is a certified Texas Registered Municipal Clerk and past president of the North Texas Municipal Clerks Association (NTMCA). “It has been my privilege to serve my fellow city secretaries across the chapter and state."
