“The appeal of The Marq is not only its beauty and functionality, but also the fact that large rental spaces to host public and private events are limited in Southlake,” stated Ashley Newhart, interim events and hospitality manager for City of Southlake. “We are delighted to already have 120 events booked for 2017. We have such a fantastic space to offer and are really looking forward to getting more local businesses and organizations to step through the door to see what we have to offer and book their next event with us.”
Designed as a multi-purpose venue with indoor and outdoor spaces available for rental, the main attraction is Traditions Ballroom, which can accommodate up to 300 guests and features a built-in dance floor, stage, professional catering kitchen, and access to a covered outdoor terrace with fire pit. Suitable for events day or night, Traditions Ballroom has played host to several Southlake Chamber of Commerce luncheons and was the site for Southlake Style magazine’s annual “Best of 2016” evening reception.
“We love having Chamber functions at The Marq – it’s a first-class facility. The building is beautiful, the staff is a delight to work with, and the presentation technology is state-of-the- art,” commented Mark Guilbert, president of the Southlake Chamber of Commerce. “Each time we conduct a luncheon at The Marq, we get very positive feedback from our attendees about the high quality of the venue. We look forward to returning time and time again.”
Also popular with local businesses are the three Legacy Meeting Rooms, which are ideal for seminars, a corporate retreat or breakout rooms. William Braxdale, owner of Braxdale Travel in Southlake, utilized one of the meeting rooms recently for a presentation to approximately 20 clients.
“The Marq offered easy access and a familiar location for our guests, perfect facility size, reasonably priced, technology for our presentation, and ample amenities to serve our needs. The Marq staff was remarkably helpful and energetic; they not only provided everything on time and as promised, but went to extra lengths to provide help with last- minute needs,” said Braxdale.
Additional spaces available for use at The Marq are the Club Lounge – which can accommodate up to 50 people with a bar, banquette seating and flat screen televisions –
and Aria Outdoor Amphitheater.
If planning a big event or community fundraiser in 2017, Legends Hall can accommodate 300-600 people total (utilizing all of the spaces available for rental and depending on the type of event). Such is the case with Staying Alive Southlake, which is co-sponsored by Texas Health Southlake, City of Southlake and American Heart Association. For the second consecutive year, the annual health fair will be held at The Marq in February, attracting hundreds of visitors for CPR training, Zumba classes, women’s self-defense demonstrations, obstacle course and vendor expo.
In addition to a beautiful facility, The Marq offers a professional staff and services to make the event planning process easy:
• On-site Banquet Specialist to assist with venue logistics on the day of the event
• Preferred catering list
• 72 inch round tables with white or black floor length linens and napkins with neutral banquet chairs
• High and low cocktail tables with house linens
• Six foot rectangular tables with house linens
• State-of-the-art audio visual and complimentary wireless internet
• Catering kitchen with ice machine
• Basic set of dishware, glassware, and flatware (when using a caterer)
• Food truck parking spaces along the promenade
• Complimentary on-site parking

These extra “perks” are what convinced Kristine Elieson to book the Carillon Home Owners Association’s holiday party for 170 guests at The Marq in December 2016. After contacting 12 venues in Southlake, Trophy Club and Grapevine and reviewing proposals from each, Elieson determined The Marq was the best choice overall in terms of venue size, flexibility, options, amenities and price.
“The staff at The Marq was wonderful to work with and they followed up in a timely manner on all questions and concerns. They are very experienced in large events and were able to give suggestions and advice. The night of our event they provided two staff members to help with anything we needed,” said Elieson. “The event was a fabulous success. Many residents had never been to The Marq and were very impressed. We are already planning to use it for our party next year. It is a beautiful venue right here in the middle of Southlake!”
The Marq is located at 285 North Shady Oaks Drive in the southwest corner of Bicentennial Park. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday 9AM-6PM and Saturday 9AM-3PM. The Marq is closed Sunday unless booked for a special event. For more information, call 817-748-8900 or visit www.TheMarqSouthlake.com.
