[ARCHIVED] 6 Books to hit the Big Screen This Year

Books to movies

This year is going to be chock-full of bestselling books brought to the big screen. Adults, children and young adults alike are all bound to find something they will enjoy. Here is a sampling of what you can expect to see at the box office this year.

For the kids:
Wonder by R.J. Palacio – April 7
August Pullman was born with a facial difference that previously prevented him from going to a mainstream school. Now starting fifth grade at prep school, he just wants to be treated as an ordinary kid — but his classmates can’t get past Auggie’s extraordinary face.
The Adventures of Captain Underpants by Dav Pilkey – June 2
George and Harold have created the greatest superhero in the history of their elementary school — and now they’ve accidentally brought him to life!

Young Adult:
Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver – March 3
Popular high school senior Samantha Kensington enjoys a fun, wild day in February — until she dies in a car accident that night. However, she still wakes up the next morning…and the next, and the next, and the next. Sam lives the last day of her life seven times, until she realizes that by making even the slightest changes, she may hold more power than she ever imagined.
Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon – May 19
A quarantined girl who’s allergic to basically everything and everyone falls in love with the boy next door, who becomes the biggest risk she’s ever taken.

Adults:
The Zookeeper’s Wife by Diane Ackerman – March 31
A true story in which the keepers of the Warsaw Zoo saved hundreds of people from Nazi hands.
The Dinner by Herman Koch – May 5
The darkly suspenseful, highly controversial tale of two families united by the accountability of one horrific, criminal act their 15-year-old sons have committed. The foursome is struggling to make the hardest decision of their lives — all over the course of one meal.
