[ARCHIVED] Sidewalk and Street Improvements Coming to Southlake Town Square

The Southlake Public Works department will begin making improvements to Southlake Town Square’s streets and sidewalks on Monday, February 27. The work is expected to last about seven to eight weeks.

The improvements will progress from Southlake Blvd. (FM 1709) north towards Town Hall. This work will be performed in coordination with our Street Divisions ongoing nightly sidewalk and ramp repairs (*See map for details).

The work will include replacing 30 handicap ramps for ADA compliance, installing concrete valley gutters to improve drainage, and paving of streets including: Main St., Fountain Place, Civic Place, State St. and Grand Avenue, in accordance with the 2017 Town Square Enhancements Initiative.

After careful consideration, the decision was made to perform the work at night. This will lessen any inconvenience to our citizens. Director Rob Cohen says, “Weather permitting, crews will be working Monday through Thursday evenings from 8:00 p.m. to around 8:00 a.m. However, these dates may be adjusted due to weather and/or changes in the delivery of materials.”

These improvements and enhancements will require some partial lane closures, and approximately 20 to 40 angled parking spaces to be closed off during the day. The areas will also be barricaded for safety reasons. Message boards are also going up this week to remind residents, and visitors to Southlake Town Square, that the work is scheduled to begin on Monday, February 27, and that the closed off areas will require 24 hours for concrete to dry.

Director Cohen reminds residents to be vigilant of the work areas and exercise caution when traveling in the affected areas.

For questions, please contact the Public Works Department at (817) 748-8082.
