Cowboy Storyteller Bert Schultz will don authentic cowboy duds and regale kids and parents with “The Origin of the Cowboy and the Texas Cattle Drive Trails.” Bert’s interest in the Old West Frontier began as a kid while he was growing up on a Nebraska farm near the Oregon and Pony Express Trails. He spent time traveling and studying the Oregon trail, the Pony Express, and historical sites from Santa Fe and the Chisholm Trail.
Following Bert’s tales, fourteen year old Trick Roper Riley Webb, will share his favorite tricks with the kids. Riley has been the opening act at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas for three years. He started learning tricks when he was three years old. He just grabbed rope and begin watching the experts.
Riley currently enjoys competing in calf roping contests at rodeos. He will share his rope tricks and talk with the audience about the names of the tricks he uses, how trick roping became a competitive art, and may ask for some audience participation.
You don’t want to miss this fun-filled event that will be held in Southlake Town Hall on Thursday, August 17 at 11:00 a.m. This program, provided in partnership with the Southlake Historical Society, is free and open to the public.
