The Library has partnered with CISD to bring student art to Town Hall. CISD Student Art Exhibits will be displayed in the Library. Student art will be rotated monthly. January 3 – February 3 23: EIS, JES, WGES February 6 – March 10: RES, DMS, CES March 20 – April 27: CMS, OUES, DIS
The Southlake Library will host the exhibit from the National Academy of Sciences entitled The Creative Mind which highlights Black scientists and researchers. This traveling exhibit celebrates the contributions of African Americans to medicine, mathematics, engineering, and all branches of science. It features the careers and achievements of some of today’s outstanding black scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and medical professionals and highlights the work of notable figures from the past. A “Did You Know?” section brings in additional information about each field, pointing to future career possibilities for creative minds of the next generation. The exhibit will be on display in the library throughout the month of February to celebrate Black History Month.
This is a high activity story time that features songs, stories, rhymes, movement games and more. Best for ages 2-5 year
This is a semi-structured time for caregivers and kids to connect in the library. Simple toys and coloring sheets provided. Best for kids age 5 and under.
Join us during celebrating Black History Month with a special class created for African American Nutrition. Katherine Lawrence, a Cornell & Standford-trained Nutritionist, identifies 6 key genetic differences where nutrition can be especially beneficial and healing. REGISTRATION CLOSED. She, and co-creator, Jacquelyne Samuels will serve delicious foods & powerful information that will inspire and encourage those wishing to make healthy changes in their lives. Printed recipes are included; class is free.
